Nyköpings Högstadium - Alpha is a 7-9 school with just over 500 students and 80 employees. Here, teachers, team mentors, and other competencies within student health work together in teams to support students in reaching their goals based on each individual's background and circumstances. We are now looking for a colleague to join our team of counselors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a counselor, you will work with our students on an individual, group, and organizational level, focusing on promoting, preventing, and remedial work. You will be part of the school's student health team and safety team. The student health team works cross-professionally for students' goal fulfillment from each profession's perspective, such as social, medical, and educational. In the safety team, you play a significant role in coordinating and driving the school's safety work together with school management, social pedagogue, and team mentors.

During the school year, we have initiated a major effort regarding attendance work in the school; we know that attendance is one of the most important health factors for mental well-being and that attendance is crucial for achieving eligibility for high school. Together with school management, team mentors, and the attendance team, you will be a driving force in the ongoing attendance work with the goal - all children in school.

As a counselor, you will also conduct individual and group conversations, collaborating with work teams as a support function based on social and relational factors. You are also a vital person in collaboration with other authorities and actors such as BUP, HAB, SOC, the police, and various youth organizations. You are where the students are!

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has a strong commitment to working with youth in the long-term effort to build the best conditions for all students. You are a person who sees the importance of contributing to a positive work environment and has the ability to see opportunities where others see obstacles. You have the strength to drive your own processes, work flexibly and creatively, and can prioritize among the many needs. You have the knowledge and qualities to drive, follow up, and revise the school's attendance work together with other important team players.

You are skilled at building relationships with students and their guardians and see this as a crucial foundation for students' success. You are a creative relationship builder who has patience and a deep understanding of the different circumstances of youth. You are driven by seeing young people develop socially and have a strong interest in values-based issues.

We want you to have an education as a behavioral scientist, social worker, or other education that the employer deems relevant. It is an advantage if you have previous experience working with youth and have knowledge of the school's governing documents and attendance work. The application includes a background check, and you must provide an extract from the police's criminal record.
